Sandugo sa Bohol 2026 Preparations Move Forward
Preparations are intensifying for one of Bohol’s biggest cultural celebrations. Representatives from provincial and national agencies, Tagbilaran City, participating municipalities, and other stakeholders recently met to coordinate security, traffic plans, road closures, venue requirements, and the order of performances.
Alburquerque, Loay, Maribojoc, Antequera, Valencia, Dimiao, Ubay, Catigbian, and Talibon will compete for the Festival of Festivals championship. The provincial government, led by Gov. Aris Aumentado, has allocated P1 million to each contingent to support preparations and participation.
Sandugo sa Bohol commemorates the historic blood compact between Datu Sikatuna and Miguel López de Legazpi in 1565. The annual celebration brings together street dancing, cultural performances, local products, and community activities that showcase the province’s traditions and creative talent.
The celebration also supports Bohol’s wider tourism identity. UNESCO recognized Bohol Island as the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark in 2023, highlighting its geological heritage, biodiversity, culture, and local communities.
