[NEWS] PAL Opens In-Cabin Travel for Small Dogs to Bohol, Boosting Pet-Friendly Tourism

At a Glance

  • Small dog breeds are now allowed to travel in-cabin with their owners
  • PAL is taking it slow by first limiting the allowed number of dogs in cabin by 3
  • Future expansion is possible

Great news for our fur babies! Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced a new initiative that allows passengers to bring their small dogs in-cabin on select domestic flights, including routes to Bohol, Boracay, and Siargao.

Under the newly launched FurPAL Program, passengers can travel with one small dog per person for a base fee of PHP 2,500 one-way, starting November 12, 2025. Eligible pets must weigh no more than 10 kilograms, be at least eight weeks old, fully weaned, and secured in a soft-sided, leak-proof carrier that fits under the seat in front of the passenger. To ensure safety and comfort on board, each flight will accommodate a maximum of three small dogs.

According to PAL, the program will initially focus on small dog breeds, with possible expansion to other pet types and sizes depending on aviation safety regulations. The move reflects a growing demand for more inclusive and lifestyle-oriented travel options among Filipino travelers.

What This Means for Bohol and for Brands

This news still means that the landscape for the industries for travel and aviation is shifting favorably to an even more inclusive model.

For Bohol, this opens the door to a new segment of travelers like pet-owning couples, families, and digital nomads - those who actively seek destinations and ways of travel that accommodate their way of life.

For brands, this opens yet another door for creating fresh opportunities across multiple channels. Pet food, accessories, carriers, travel gear, hospitality, wellness, and even financial brands can now align themselves with a growing fur parent travel culture.

Airport environments, in particular, become spaces to connect with these travelers at moments of heightened excitement. There would be nothing better than to travel closely with your beloved pet close to you - and that alone is prime material that brands should capitalize on.

Bohol is gaining traction as both a leisure destination and a lifestyle hub. PAL’s FurPAL Program is a simple update, but it reflects how travel, identities, and brand experience can be tied together in a little pet-friendly knot.
